Off-Campus Access to Library Resources
Watch a tutorial showing you how to connect from off-campus.
Current students, faculty, and staff of Oglethorpe University may access most of the library's licensed research resources from off-campus. Depending on the resource, you will use one of two access methods:
1. Use the GALILEO password. 2. Login to the library's proxy server.
Please contact the library if you are experiencing any problems accessing resources off-campus.

Many GALILEO resources require Oglethorpe's password for off-campus access. You will be prompted if the password is necessary to use a resource. You may also enter the password in the "Home/Password Access" box on the GALILEO homepage. How to get the password: 1) Your Library Account
2) In Person We are not permitted to distribute the password over the telephone. For more info, see the GALILEO Access Policy. Oglethorpe's password changes 4 times a year: May 15th, June 14th, August 15th, and December 20th. |
Off-campus access to some resources, such as JSTOR and ProjectMUSE, is controlled through our proxy server. If you are prompted to login to the proxy server, login with your last name and library barcode. Your barcode is located on your PETRELPASS. To login successfully, you must: 1. Be an authorized user (current student, faculty, or staff). Once you have been authenticated, your session will remain active until you close your browser. You won't have to login to each resource separately. For the proxy server to work properly, your browser must be set to enable cookies. (This is the default setting on most browsers.) The proxy server uses cookies to store authentication information. |
