Charles E. Mitchell was president of the National City Bank of New York in 1925 when he gave this address at the dedication of the gift given by Colonel Robert J. Lowry, head of the Lowry National Bank of Atlanta, and his wife Emma Markham Lowry, who bequeathed in her will a large sum of money to the creation of the Lowry School of Banking and Commerce, to Oglethorpe University.
Description
The collection contains Charles E. Mitchell’s address at Oglethorpe University in which he venerates the deceased Lowrys, surveys higher education, and argues for the necessity of education on banking and commerce in the face of a modern business developed world.
