The Philip Weltner Library is always willing to partner with campus organizations and departments to better serve our Oglethorpe community.
Academic Success Center
The Academic Success Center and the Philip Weltner Library share a common mission – to provide all students with a productive environment and necessary support systems to ensure their achievement. The Philip Weltner Library
ensures tutors and Writing Center assistants have the most updated research
and citation information.
Admission Office
The Admission Office is charged with bringing in each new class of students to join the community here at Oglethorpe. The Philip Weltner Library is their first formal experience with the campus as admissions events are held in the library atrium. In addition, the popular study rooms double as interview locations every year for the annual Scholarship Weekend.
Alumni Office
The Alumni Office here at Oglethorpe keeps all of Petrels connected to campus—both virtually and physically. Alumni Weekend events, tours and
lectures are often held in the Philip Weltner Library. The treasures from the archives are used to support exhibits and posters which enhance the weekend experience.
Faculty
The Faculty consistently rank as the number one reason students succeed here. Through information literacy instruction sessions, research assistance, material purchasing and Archives internships, the Philip Weltner Library staff partner with faculty members to
facilitate student learning outside of the classroom.
Office of Special Events
Through the Office of Special Events, the Philip Weltner Library often provides space and locations for off-campus productions to film for a variety of movies, music videos and television shows. The gothic architecture is attractive to many
TV and feature length film producers.
Oglethorpe University Museum of Art
The Oglethorpe University Museum of Art (OUMA) offers three exhibits a year
to the Oglethorpe and Atlanta community. The OUMA and Library have co-sponsored past exhibits, such as “Time is an Illusion: Revisiting Einstein’s
Theories of Relativity.”
