Administrative History
Ted Shawn performed solos, duets, and group dances throughout his professional life. He orchestrated many tours with his wife, Ruth St. Denis, and maintained his phenomenal status as a professional choreographer, performer, and teacher. After losing his life savings during the Depression, he turned his focus to beginning an all-male dance group at Jacob’s Pillow, which performed all over.
Description
This collection consists of booklets written either for or by Ted Shawn himself. The booklets target the Golden Anniversary of his duet performances and marriage to Ruth St. Denis. In addition, there is a program of one of Ted Shawn’s programs and a letter written to the supporters of his work and marriage.
