Dan Bailey begins his paper describing the “three Oglethorpe Universities” that were seen throughout history. Briefly, he discussed the reasons why the first two did not thrive. Afterwards, he went on to criticize decisions made by Dr. Thornwell Jacobs involving his desire for a medical program, in an effort to welcome praise for the arrival of Dr. Philip Weltner as President of Oglethorpe University. The focus of Dan Bailey’s essay is to show gratitude to Dr. Philip Weltner for redirecting and restoring Oglethorpe University’s campus educational programs.
The collection includes a copy of an essay, written by Dan Bailey, which pertains to the history of Oglethorpe University.
